ALBUM OF THE DAY

LOWER - Benjamin Booker (2025)

Review by: Merlin Stone

ree

Benjamin Booker dropped an unforgettable record this year supported by one of the great producers of our time, Kenny Segal.

It’s rare that a record speaks to me on such a fundamental level. Benjamin is one of the most earnest voices in music. His vulnerability is inspiring. He’s got the kind of writing and delivery that feels like it exists without you being there to hear it. The songs sound necessary and fundamental to some sort of shared emotions we all experience. Writing that fantastic can only be achieved through a level of bravery and curiosity that few of us have. And yeah, Kenny’s production builds the perfect dystopian atmosphere for the songs. It is both gorgeous and deeply in touch with the rawness of expression.

Shit slaps.
